I also found an add-on for google chrome (i think there might be one for firefox as well) called Rikaikun, which lets you mouse over japanese text you see online, and shows a text box on what it means. this helps if you don’t want to go to google translate all the time to read japanese text, it’s also free. unfortunately, you can only use it for individual words, you cannot highlight the whole sentence, but it still helps.
